Can reason be gained through experience? Yes, only if one has some reason to begin with. Without the ability to reason one cannot gain ANY reason either. How can I eat if I can’t reason that I need to? Then, how did people abtain the ability to reason. It can be assumed that our Creator has given it to us.

I believe that, at birth, God instilled in us a basic knowledge that gives us a base to develop additional knowledge because without knowledge one can only guess at the truth but then again one wouldn’t even know that there is such a thing as truth. In a state without knowledge one would be incapable of functioning. For example, if one had no knowledge, he would not know how to distinguish from logical and illogical sequences. In a state in which one does not have logic one would quickly die because he would not know how to eat. Well at least he would die if no external forces forced him to eat and digest his food. He himself would be unable to function. A machine is unable to function unless its creator enables it to. One might ask, couldn’t the machine be instilled with false information. Then how can we know that the knowledge instilled in us is true. I will explain how we can know. It is actually a principle that is often used but not often realized. If the odds of being wrong are one out of a million then instead of believing in nothing it is safe to assume that the idea is truth.
